Personage Magazine is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use personagemagazine.co.uk, why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have over it.
This policy is written under UK data protection law — the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), and the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025/2026 — and is regulated by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
1. Who We Are
Personage Magazine is operated by Mr Adi, registered in England and Wales.
For the purposes of UK data protection law, Mr Adi is the data controller of the personal data described in this policy.
If you have a question about this policy or how we handle your data, contact us at:
Email: celebnewsmagazine98@gmail.com
2. What Personal Data We Collect
We collect personal data in a few different ways:
Information you give us directly, such as:
- Your name and email address when you subscribe to our newsletter
- Your name, email address, and message content when you contact us via a form
- Comments you post on articles, if comments are enabled
Information collected automatically, such as:
- Your IP address, browser type, device type, and operating system
- Pages visited, time spent on the site, and referral source
- Approximate location (derived from IP address, at country/city level)
Information from cookies and similar technologies — see Section 6 below.
We do not knowingly collect financial information, government ID numbers, or special category data (such as health or political data) about our readers.
3. How We Use Your Data and Our Legal Basis
| What we do | Why we do it | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Send you our newsletter | You asked to receive it | Consent |
| Respond to your enquiries or tips | To handle your message | Legitimate interests / contract (where applicable) |
| Analyse site traffic and usage | To understand what readers want and improve the site | Legitimate interests, and/or recognised legitimate interests for core service-improvement analytics |
| Detect fraud, abuse, or security threats | To keep the site and our readers safe | Legitimate interests / recognised legitimate interests |
| Serve advertising | To fund free access to our content | Consent (for personalised/non-essential ads) or legitimate interests (for non-personalised ads), as set out in our cookie banner |
| Comply with legal obligations | Where the law requires it | Legal obligation |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we’ve considered whether our interest in processing your data is outweighed by your rights — except where we rely on a recognised legitimate interest under the Data (Use and Access) Act, such as certain types of service-improvement analytics, where the law removes the need for that balancing test. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time (see Section 8).
We do not use your personal data for any purpose incompatible with the purpose for which we collected it, and we do not sell your personal data.
4. Editorial Content and Public Figures
Personage Magazine publishes news, commentary, and reporting on public figures and matters of public interest. Where our journalism refers to identifiable individuals, that processing is carried out for the purposes of journalism, and we rely on the relevant journalism-related provisions of UK data protection law and the Data Protection Act 2018, balanced against the public interest in publication, freedom of expression, and individuals’ rights.
This is distinct from how we handle the personal data of our readers and subscribers, which is covered by the rest of this policy.
5. Who We Share Your Data With
We don’t sell your personal data. We do share it with:
- Service providers who help us run the site, such as our web hosting provider, email/newsletter platform, and analytics provider.
- Advertising partners, where you’ve consented to personalised advertising via our cookie settings
- Law enforcement or regulators, where we’re legally required to disclose information
- A buyer, if Personage Magazine or its assets are sold or transferred — your data would be handled under this same policy, or one you’re notified of in advance
Some of our service providers may store or process data outside the UK. Where this happens, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as the UK’s International Data Transfer Agreement, an adequacy decision, or equivalent legally recognised safeguards.
6. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies for:
- Strictly necessary cookies — required for the site to function, These don’t require consent.
- Analytics cookies — to understand how readers use the site in aggregate. Under current PECR rules as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act, some statistical/analytics cookies may not require consent where they meet the legal exemption criteria; where ours don’t qualify, we ask for your consent via our cookie banner.
- Preference cookies — to remember settings like display preferences.
- Advertising cookies — to show relevant ads and measure their performance. These require your consent.
You can manage or withdraw cookie consent at any time via the cookie settings link in our footer, or through your browser settings. Turning off non-essential cookies won’t stop the site working, but it may affect personalisation and the ads you see.
7. How Long We Keep Your Data
We keep personal data only as long as we need it:
- Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe, plus a short period to process the unsubscribe request
- Contact form / tip submissions: 1 day or longer if needed to resolve an ongoing query or legal matter
- Analytics data: typically retained in aggregated or pseudonymised form per our analytics provider’s standard retention period
- Comments: for as long as the related article remains published, unless you ask us to remove them sooner
8. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data
- Erase your data in certain circumstances (“right to be forgotten”)
- Restrict or object to our processing of your data
- Data portability — receive your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent
- Complain directly to us about how we’ve handled your personal data — we will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and respond substantively as soon as reasonably possible
- Lodge a complaint with the ICO, the UK’s data protection regulator, if you’re unhappy with our response
To exercise any of these rights, email us at celebnewsmagazine98@gmail.com. We’ll respond within one a day, as required by law.
9. Children’s Privacy
Personage Magazine is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
10. Automated Decision-Making
We do not use your personal data to make any decisions about you using solely automated means that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
11. How We Protect Your Data
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — including secure hosting, access controls, and encryption where appropriate — to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the law or in how we use data. We’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page, and where changes are significant, we’ll take reasonable steps to bring them to your attention.
